The 15:17 to Paris
Release date: 09 February 2018
Twitter Handle: @1517toparis
This Film chronicles the lives of 3 heroic Americans who thwarted a Terrorist attack on a train to Paris. Amazingly, the movie is based on 3 very real heroes and an actual occurrence from 2015 that had the world tensely watching as the media reported what was going down. Luckily, for us all the movies standout stars are the men themselves so if anyone will nail the characterization it’s the real heroes themselves. What makes this movie truly worth watching is the way that Clint Eastwood captures these men’s lives and what brought them to be on that train; the portrayal of their deep awe-inspiring friendship and how their trust in each other never wavers when their unexpectedly forced to face the possibility of death.

Black Panther
Release date: 12 February 2018
Twitter handle: @theblackpanther
Marvel Studios is back at it again- expanding its repertoire of epic movies that are shot beautifully. This is the first stand-alone Black Panther movie and you don’t want to miss it. It picks up from the events in Captain America: Civil War and sees King T’Challa returns home to the technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country’s new leader. But his return isn’t welcomed by all and it’s up to the hero known as Black Panther, a C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje (Wakandan special forces), to collaborate and prevent Wakanda from being dragged into turmoil. With an epic cast, great cinematography and top notch acting- You’d be a fool to miss it.

The movie is an adaptation of a namesake book and is a remarkably well made Sci-fi film shot and in part written by Alex Garland. It begins with the return of a soldier, on the verge of death from Area X, an environmental hot zone. This prompts the soldier’s wife an accomplished/skilled woman to put her name forward for an expedition back into that environmental disaster zone to find answer as to what happened to her husband so he can be helped. The all women expedition team then venture on but what they find is unexpected…

I, Tonya
Release date: 23 February 2018
Twitter handle: @ITonyaMovie
Ever since pictures of Margot Robbie’s transformation as the scandalous Ice skater Tonya Harding were released- audiences were invested. This movie is set to feature extremely solid performances: from the main character to the main characters mother, portrayed by Allison Janney. Director Craig Gillespie’s dark/comic biopic of Tonya Harding is going to be sensational as it captures Tonya’s essence as someone rough around the edges but also somewhat innocuous.

Lady Bird
Release date: 16 February 2018
Twitter handle: @LadyBirdMovie
Lady Bird is a tumultuous, thought out movie with strong streaks of comedy. It’s a coming of age movie about a teenager trying to navigate a loving but also crazy relationship with her overzealous mother along with an eventful senior year of high school. It’s an easy watch, the type of movie that will take you on a journey were you encounter a plethora of emotions but most of all it’s one of those movies we see our ourselves reflected in the characters.
